Madison Square Garden is one of the most celebrated sports arenas in the world, and it seems they have applied to brand MSG, with the aim of penetrating the nascent legalized sports betting scene in the United States. This is even as it is not a very confirmed report though. A media personnel of the sports venue said,
‘We have shown openly our interest inherent in legalized sports gaming, and we have seen that we have a brand in MSG that has worldwide recognition for the ties it has to iconic sports.’
In its application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the sports theatre has its aim to trademark MSG for mobile sports apps for arranging, conducting and participating in sport betting tourneys and providing insight into sport betting information.
Sports betting in New York is still waiting for approval from the state legislature, Madison seems to be content with waiting in the wings to swoop down. The company is yet to come clean with what it wants to do, the application to brand MSG comes with a statement that it wants to use the brand for the goods and services so stated.
